listen sample

The album was originally released in 1986 on vinyl. The music has found itself a home in many unusual places, including film and television programs, websites, ringtones, ambient radio programming, etc. The music on this album is a combination of classical, flamenco, minimalistic, folk, acoustic, electronic and original styles. Side 1 (Tracks 1 - 4) was recorded direct to two tracks, and demonstrates various techniques for marimba and vibraphone that can be derived from guitar, piano and string music. Side 2 (Tracks 5 - 7) is a multi-track voyage down an imaginary river. The vibraphone was recorded at MacDonald Park, in Carnation, WA, next to the Snoqualmie River, using a Nagra portable tape recorder (state-of-the-art reel to reel at the time). Additional tracks were then incorporated in the studio. The result is a finished work based on an improvisation. The piece can and has been performed live, using delay equipment. Turn up the HI-FI or out your over-the-ear headphones, and take a trip down "The River"!
