昨年トランペット奏者Eivind Lønning（アイヴィン・ロンニング）とのデュオで来日公演を行った、オスロの作曲家/ギタリストKim Myhr（キム・ミール）。彼を作曲の中心に、大所帯ジャズバンドTrondeheim Jazz Orchestra（トロンハイム・ジャズ・オーケストラ）から選抜した11名の管弦打楽器奏者と、同じくオスロを拠点に活動する女性シンガーJenny Hval（ジェニー・ヴァル）が作詞・ヴォーカルで参加した、2014年録音。12弦ギターをザラザラと小刻みにかき鳴らしながら倍音をコントロールするMyhrの特徴的な奏法と、漂泊感のあるコードの推移、アコースティック楽器の複雑な肌理が緻密に積み重なるアンサンブルに、Hvalはリーディングを交えた多彩なヴォイス・パフォーマンスを披露。ミニマリスティックなジャズ・インプロヴィゼーションを主軸にしつつ、メロディ・パートでは耳新しいポップ度を加速させていきます。タイトルはBob Dylanのしわがれた声を意味するとのこと。

Vladimir Ivkovic（ウラディミル・イフコビッチ）が主宰するデュッセルドルフの新興レーベルOffen Music。Rex Ilusivii、Toreschに続く第3弾、ウクライナ・リヴィウの詩人/シンガーソングライターIhor Cymbrows'kyj（イゴル・ツィンブロヴスキ）が、95年に録音、96年にKoka Recordsからリリースしたカセット・アルバム「Come Angel」収録曲より3曲のセレクション。2016年6月リリース。

It doesn't make much sense to describe the music - just click on the link below and listen. But there is a short, raw story, from Vitali Bardetski who produced the album in 1995:
"I don’t remember much when recalling what happened over 20 years ago. I met Ihor thru my older brother who was studiyng architecture at the polytechnical institute of Lviv. I believe Ihor was studying construction or maybe architecture too. I was much younger than Ihor and already managed a few pop artists. I used to spend most of the time in Berlin. Once my bro played me a demo tape by Ihor, and i got really excited and asked brother to introduce me to him. I proposed to go to a studio. At that time there were probably only 2 studios in Lviv. We recorded everything in a single day, all 100% live, no edits, nothing. Just some crazy delay - Ihor liked it sounding a bit "dubby“. The whole session was a pure magic. I just told our engineer "touch nothing now and relax". "Come Angel" - we recorded it twice as there was a malfunction of a tape recorder. I believe I paid something like 100 US$ for everything. That was actually a lot - my rent for a 1 room apartment in the very center was around 25 bucks a month. First we released it ourselves on cassettes with b&w sleeves copied on xerox. I met a crazy guy in Berlin (Gogo was his nickname) He was already working with some ex East Block artists and offered a mini tour in Berlin and the area around it. We came to Berlin and played a few gigs, really strange venues, mainly bars in squats, but it was lots of fun. I remember a couple of young ladies literally loosing conscience along with Ihor's high frequencies. Financially that was of course a flop. We had been cleaning windows a few days to buy return tickets…" ▲

シェフィールドの現代音楽レーベルAnother Timbreから昨年リリースされた、Laurence Crane（ローレンス・クレーン）の室内楽集。1961年オックスフォード生まれ。ノッティンガム大学でPeter NelsonとNigel Osborneに作曲を師事。現在までロンドンを拠点にテレビ、劇場、コンサートホールのための音楽を作曲。インスピレーションの源泉としてサティやフェルドマン、スケンプトンといった作曲家の名を挙げていますが、イギリス実験音楽の古格を示すような「簡素」な語法による作曲が持ち味となっており、空白や余韻が悠然とレイアウトされ、穏やかで親しい雰囲気を感じさせます。このクレーンの音楽がもつ妙味をデリケートなタッチで表現しているのは、練達のチェリストAnton Lukoszevieze（アントン・ルコシェヴィエーヴ）率いるアンサンブルApartment House（アパートメント・ハウス）。時系列順ではない選曲構成も素晴らしく、特に3つの "Sparling" が他曲との間に組み込まれ、エレクトリック・オルガンによる満つなドローン "Riis" を中間に配した、なだらかな丘陵地形のようなディスク1の流れに、最後まで途絶えることなく引き込まれていきます。

Freitas。ロックバンドでの活動後、様々な音楽を吸収し、より前衛的な音楽性へ。「7 Dias 7 Instrumentos Música」は、単独名義ではおそらく2作目となる作品で、ブラジル音楽の奇才Egberto Gismonti主宰のレーベルCarmoの8番目としてリリース。ノルデスチ地方のチターラ、ビオラン（ギター）やバンドリンなど、曲により仕様/組み合わせの異なる7通りのインストゥルメントを扱い、小刻みなトレモロ、叩き付けるようなパーカッシブな奏法まで、緩急巧みに振分けた自由自在なスタイルで、夜明けから目覚め、太陽の道へ至る7日間を表現。音の原野を駆け回り野性の源を探るような、土着と洗練が雑ざりあう演奏は、北米ニュー・アコースティック派作品と対比して南米固有のニューエイジと喩えたくなるほど、スピリチュアルな鋭気に満ちています。1993年にはECM/Carmoから新録音を2曲追加した全10曲でCD化。本作以降はダンスや映画のための作曲/アレンジを手掛けるほか、世界各国でワークショップをされているそうです。

The guitar player Ronaldo Leite de Freitas - or simply called Carioca - was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1955. He started very early with his musical education. From experiences in rock bands he passed on to study different styles of music and to master the knowledge of his instruments. In 1979/80 he finished his first album "Misterios da Amazonia". Afterthe 80ies he has been working as a music teacher, as an arranger of more than thirty independent LPs, as a composer for theatre, dance and movie. Due to constant touring in Europe, he also started to live in Switzerland. Together with Ted Barlocher he founded the "Escola de Samba do Apito". Arranging, composing, producing soundtracks, recordings for studios and television soon characterized his work which started to be known in Europe, Australia, Africa, Asia as well as in South and Central America.  - discogs (excerpt)

John Avery is an English solo performer and composer & sound designer for theatre. In the 1980s & 90s he was a member of the Sheffield band Hula. He has been a collaborator with the theatre group Forced Entertainment since that time and many of his solo projects fed into music for their performances. John's work has been described as a juxtaposition of melody and noise and is characterised by a sense of narrative. We think he's an important musician. - Forced Nostalgia

"Nighthawks" and "And Never Let Go" form part of a soundtrack written and recorded for a theatre piece entitled "Nighthawks" by Forced Entertainment Theatre Co-operative. The show is their fourth project to date, and the second to include specially written music by John Avery. "Nighthawks" itself is set in a lonely American bar, it works in a highly visual style using performance, light set and soundtrack to explore ideas about romance, travel and sexuality. - discogs

Vladimir Cosma (born April 13, 1940) is a Romanian composer, conductor and violinist, born in Bucharest, Romania. He was born in a family of musicians, his father Teodor Cosma was Orchestra Electrecord conductor. Vladimir Cosma studied music in Bucharest and in September 1962 emigrated to Paris, France with his family. There he continue his musical education at The École Normale de Musique de Paris under Nadia Boulanger's guidance. He has written the music for many well known French movies. Since 1963 he lives in Paris, France.
