シドニーのオンラインジャーナル「Low End Theorists」のために作ったミックスが公開になりました。Low End Theoristsは、スコットランド出身のGary Hunterとシドニー出身のDaniel Patrinにより今年新たに立ち上げられたプロジェクトで、主にオーストラリアのインディペンデントな音楽シーンを発信するプラットフォームとして運営されています。彼らのローカルな友人たちを紹介してきたミックスシリーズですが、今回Garyさんとの音楽についてのやりとりの流れからお誘いを受け、ゲスト参加させていただくことになりました。この数年愛聴してきたMatthew HayesやSantilliといった音楽家と同じ輪の中に入れていただいてとても光栄に思います。ウェブサイトの記事では音楽やリスニングについての簡単な質問に答えていますのであわせてご覧いただければ嬉しいです。

Mori To Kiroku No Ongaku #13

「Mori To Kiroku No Ongaku」の最新回がHamon Radioで公開になりました。前半はフリーセレクション、後半は鈴木惣一朗さん率いる楽団＝ワールドスタンダードの特集として「アラバスター」「カノン」「シレンシオ」という3枚のアルバムにスポットを当てています。

ミュージシャン・音楽プロデューサーとして、これまで数多くの音楽を手がけてこられた鈴木惣一朗さん。その長年にわたる活動の根幹をなすプロジェクトであるワールドスタンダードは今年でデビュー35周年。そしてご自身も還暦という節目を迎えられました。今回選曲したのは、昨年BRIDGE INC.からエキスパンデッド・エディションで再発された「老境3部作」と呼ばれる3枚のアルバム。音響的アプローチで原点に回帰した「アラバスター」。イタリア映画音楽の郷愁に触発された「カノン」。ポルトガル語圏〜アルゼンチンのモダン・フォルクローレの潮流に呼応した「シレンシオ」─── 移り変わる時代相に敏感に反応しつつ、中央と辺境の間を漂泊しながら、普遍的な音楽の魔法を信じて奏でられてきたワールドスタンダードの作品。揺らぐことのないポップさと無国籍的サウンドの奥には、何処にも属さない静けさが潜んでいます。

元々は2004年から2010年にかけてリリースされた作品ですが、私が手にして聴いたのは2011年の春。それは東日本大震災と原発事故という未曾有の惨事に見舞われた直後で、自分にとっては今も、当時の生活の記憶や心のあり方が深く結びついているように感じます。明日何が起こるかわからない不安感、被災地に対して何もできないという無力感を抱えていたとき、ワールドスタンダードの音楽はそっと小さな安心感をもたらしてくれる存在でした。今現在の新型コロナウイルス感染拡大による不安の中、しばしばあの時の気持ちを思い出します。たくさんの人々の犠牲が報じられる毎日、一向に出口が見えない負の連鎖的状況に、やりようのない思いでいっぱいになります。1日も早くこの事態が終息すること、そしてこのような状況において小さな声に耳を傾けられる社会であることを切に願うばかりです。

最後に、今回の特集を組むきっかけをくださった鍋谷政貴さん、そしてHamon Radioのシュンゴさんをはじめスタッフの皆さまに心から感謝いたします。鍋谷さんは「老境3部作」や「ディスカバー・アメリカ・シリーズ」などワルスタ作品のライナーノーツやブックレットの素晴らしい文章を手がけてこられた方で、SHE Ye,Ye Recordsのウェブページでは近年海外のリスナーからも注目を浴びているエブリシングプレイの名作「ポッシュ」の解説も公開されています。→● 昨年の春、新潟でお会いして以来（ドキュメンタリー番組の撮影ために来日したビバリー・グレン・コープランドのシークレットライブの会場でした）の交流を一つの形として残せたことがとても嬉しいです。

here is the latest episode of my show "Mori To Kiroku No Ongaku" published on Hamon Radio. the second half is dedicated to Japan's instrumental pop ensemble World Standard led by composer and producer Soichiro Suzuki since the 1980s. it focuses on three albums "Alabaster", "Canon" and "Silencio", also called "Rokyo (Old Age) Trilogy". the albums were originally released between 2004 and 2010, and it has now been reissued by Bridge Japan as the remastered and expanded CDs including rare bonus tracks.

ウクライナのレーベルDug Up The Bongoに向けてつくったミックスがサウンドクラウドで公開になりました。Dug Up The Bongoは、DJ／プロデューサーDelta Yaroslav（デルタ・ヤロスラフ）が今年新たに立ち上げたプロジェクト。カリブ、アフリカ、ラテンアメリカなどの民族的要素を取り入れたダンス・ミュージックにフォーカスし、作品のリリースや新着トラックのキュレーションを中心に活動されています。7月始めに「Mori To Kiroku No Ongaku」の過去のエピソードを聴いてくれたヤロスラフさんから連絡を受けたことが、今回参加するきっかけになりました。ヤロスラフさん、声をかけてくださりありがとうございました。

-I am a music lover living in Niigata city located in the Chūbu region of Japan. I have organized some live concerts and published small handmade music books while working in the local advertising industry as a graphic designer. I have run a small music blog “森と記録の音楽 (Mori To Kiroku No Ongaku)” focusing ambient music since 2007. now I listen to a wider range of music, but still interested in various music that makes me tranquil and listening to all the sounds with a peaceful state of mind. my mix is often not so ambient but always inspired by the tranquillity and intensity of the sea I love and respect."

イギリスの公共テレビ局チャンネル4で1990年8月に放送された、スペイン・イビサ島のクラブ・カルチャーを題材とするドキュメンタリー番組「A Short Film About Chilling」。Terry Farley、Charlie Chester、Rocky & Diesel、The Farm、808 Stateなど、DJ・ミュージシャンへのインタビューやライブ映像を交え、ヨーロッパのダンス・ミュージック〜チルアウト・ムーブメントの中心地として隆盛するイビサの動勢を捉えた30分。監督は、Creation Records所属のアーティストのMVを手がけたことで知られるAngus Cameron（アンガス・キャメロン）。

ドイツにおけるハウス・ミュージックの礎を築いたDJの1人と評されるHeinz Felber（ハインツ・フェルバー）と、フェルバーと共に複数の名義で活動し、多くのクラブヒットを放ったプロデューサーMichael Rödiger（ミヒャエル・オーディガー）。この2人のプロジェクトAtlantis（アトランティス）が、92年にベルギーの名門Apolloからリリースした唯一の作品。ZENライクな尺八をフィーチャーしたA面 "Paradise Part 1" は、翌年のレーベル・コンピレーション「Apollo 1」にも収録されたチルアウトの名トラック。「チルアウト」というと、90年代後期以降はダウンテンポ〜ラウンジが典型となり、現在ではリラクゼーショナルなムードを持った音楽全般を指すものになっていますが、90年代初頭は単なるリラックス、クールダウンさせる音楽ではなく、レイヴの狂乱と並行して存在する仮想世界へのトリップを促すサイケデリック〜スピリチュアル・ミュージックとしての側面が強かったのだろうと思います。下の動画は、Atlantisのほか、Silence (Pete Namlook and Dr. Atmo)、Aphex Twin、The Orbらの曲を収録した、ベルリンのヴィデオ・レーベルStud!o K7の映像作品「3 Lux-3」。

NYブルックリンを拠点に活動するサウンド・アーティストTaylor Deupree（テイラー・デュプリー）が、93年にInstinct Recordsからリリースしたソロ・プロジェクトHuman Mesh Dance名義の初作。最小限主義の電子音響でリスニング・アートの可能性を拡張した12k以降の活動が特に知られていますが、92年から96年頃にかけてはInstinct専属のグラフィック・デザイナーとして多数のアートワークを担当しながら、Molly Taylor, Taylor 808といったソロ名義、またSavvas Ysatis（Seti, Escape Tank, Futique, Skai）やDietrich Schoenemann（Prototype 909, E.O.X, Unit Park, Drum Komputer）とのプロジェクトでテクノ/ダウンテンポ/ダブといった多面にわたる作品を数多く制作。「昔のアンビエントに戻った」と語る00年代以降の12k作品、特に微細な物理現象の描写、ぼやけた音像に記憶/心象を投影するようなパッシブなフォームと比べると、宇宙科学、人工知能、極彩色の自然環境、オーバービジョンといった非日常的なイマジネーションを刺激し、静かな醒覚へ拓いてゆく本作の精神性は、同じアンビエントとはいえ実に対比的で、チルアウトの潮流に拠るサイケデリックな感覚が全編に展開されています。ハイライト#3 "Dahlia" は、Irresistible ForceやKLFも参加した同年のコンピレーション「Chill Out!」に別ミックスを収録。

名門Anticonからチルウェイヴ以降のドリーミーなIDM/グリッチ・ホップ作を発表、エレクトロニック・シーンで高く評価されているLAのビートメイカーBathsことWill Wiesenfeldによる別名プロジェクトGeotic（ジオティック）。2008年から続くこの名義ではビーツ指数は控えめに、ギターのループやエレクトロニクスによるやわらかなアンビエント/パッシヴ（消極的）リスニングにフォーカス。今年7月にこれまでの節目となる未発表作品集「Various/Singles」発表、新たに立ち上げた全3部の「シングル・インストゥルメント」シリーズ第一弾「Morning Shore」は、ギターの音のみで描いた、終わることのない（Eon）夏のサウンドスケッチ。端々がぼやけた少年期の記憶のようなノスタルジックな世界観と調和した美しい浜辺のカバーアートは、画家である実母Jude Wiesenfeldによるそうです。秋には声を使った「Sunset Mountain」、そして冬にはピアノによる「Evening Sky」がリリース予定。
