サウンドスケープ・デザイナーの明土真也氏が、自身のチャンネルで公開されているラジオプログラムのアーカイブより。2003年春にSt.GIGA（クラブコスモ）で初回放送された「蛍逍遥（ほたるしょうよう）」。日本に生息するホタルの発光パターンや光の強弱を音に変換し、そのサイクルを楽譜に見立てて作曲されたラジオアート作品。ホタルの明滅が呼吸（酸素反応）と連動していること、地域・行動により周期が変化することなど、生態についての解説も添えられています。St.GIGAからクラブコスモへ移行した時期のものですが、かつてのタイドテーブル編成とはまた異なる趣があり、当時の放送スタイルがより紀行番組やフィラーに近い形式であったことがうかがえる貴重な音源だと思います。この他にも、水のさまざまな表情を3分間のシングルに見立てて編集した「るり渓～水音のイリュージョン」、淡路島の波音と笙の音色をミックスした「光芒の凪 AWAJI」、中国やマレーシアの音風景をとらえた「サウンドトリップ」など、環境音・音楽・エッセイで構成されたプログラムを視聴できます。
This recording is taken from the radio program archives of soundscape designer Shinya Akedo, available on his official channel. “Hotaru Shōyō” (Fireflies Strolling Around) originally aired in the spring of 2003 on St.GIGA (Club Cosmo). This radio art piece was composed by converting the glowing patterns and light intensities of Japanese fireflies into sound, treating the data as a musical score. It is fascinating to hear the ecological commentary included, such as how their flickering correlates with respiration (oxygen reaction) and how their flash cycles vary depending on the region and behavior. The work has a distinct feel from the earlier “Tide Table” era; it serves as a valuable historical resource, reflecting a broadcast style that leaned toward travelogues or ambient filler programming. Other available programs blending ambient sound, music, and essays include “Rurikei Gorge: The Illusion of Water Sounds,” which treats various forms of water as a three-minute musical track; “The Calm of Light Rays: Awaji,” a mix of Awaji Island’s waves and Mayumi Miyata’s shō; and “Sound Trip,” which captures the soundscapes of China and Malaysia.
