収録内容は、Kyoto Jazz Massiveで知られる沖野修也と、ピアニスト吉澤はじめの両氏が関わる複数のプロジェクト、および吉澤氏のソロ楽曲で構成。「アメリカン・ブルー」を基調とするパッケージで、パーラメントが掲げる「洗練された大人のリラックスタイム」というブランドイメージと寄り添うように、全体はフューチャージャズ/ラウンジ系の落ち着いたグルーヴで統一されています。なかでも印象深いのが、シェリー酒ブランドTio Pepeのレーベルから12インチレコードで限定リリースされたクロスオーバー#3「Green」と、都市の孤独感をたたえたジャジーなディープハウス#4「Naked Noon」。CDでは本作以外で聴くことができない、Electric Sheep名義による2曲の流れがとてもよく、交互に繰り返し聴きたくなります。パーラメントからは本作のほかに「Quiet Voyage」というコンピレーションも制作されていますが、そちらは女性ジャズヴォーカル曲からセレクトされたものでした。

Synth ambiences, acoustic landscapes, deep songwriting, and subtle candombe percussions combine in most of the musical output released in Uruguay during the '80s. A very unique sound was developed within the narrow boundaries of Montevideo, the country's capital city, by just a small group of very talented artists. These sounds reverberated in singer-songwriting (Eduardo Darnauchans, Fernando Cabrera, Estela Magnone), jazz fusion approximations (Hugo Fattoruso's La Escuelita), experimental music (Leo Maslíah, Hugo Jasa), and the work of musicians at the intersections of these worlds (Jaime Roos, Mariana Ingold). In América Invertida, ethereal vocal arrangements and acoustic guitars cohabit with synthesizers and drum machines; Candombe and Latin American music form a fellowship with new wave and dream pop. However, the overwhelming musical harvest produced by giant neighbors, Brazil and Argentina, shadowed any attempt for this scene to transcend beyond the local market. It's only now, a few decades later, when some of those records have achieved cult status among a discreet group of collectors that try hard to get hold of those titles, pressed in only tiny numbers at the time. No wonder, the timeless beauty of these songs remains in full effect while retaining the uniqueness of a sound resulting from multiple cultural encounters on the streets of Montevideo. This compilation, América Invertida, reveals part of this hidden world. It veers towards the most experimental side of Uruguayan singer-songwriting of the '80s, both from an acoustic and electronic point of view (with artists who moved between both universes) as well as towards instrumental fusion. ヴェネツィアを拠点に音楽と美術のシーンを股にかけ先進的な創作活動を行ってきた作曲家／プロデューサーAlessandro Pizzin（アレッサンドロ・ピツィン）のソロワークを集めたコンピレーション・アルバムが、Austin Tretwold主宰のレーベルIncidental Musicよりアナウンスされました。先月、画家Luigi Violaのビデオ・パフォーマンスのための電子音楽集「Marea / Tide」が、アムスのレーベルMusic From Memoryから復刻されたばかりですが、本作は最初期にあたる80年代初頭から自身のレーベルExploraを立ち上げた90年代前半まで、約13年にわたり制作された様々なマルチメディア作品から選曲。レデントーレ教会内で行われたライヴ・レコーディング "Questions" "I See"、ミラノ在住の画家・松山修平のエキシビジョンのための "The Floating Sound"、自然出産プログラムのために作曲されるもアウトテイクになった "Sunset On The Hill"、複数のスピーカーとモニターを使い音と光の相互作用を試みた "In Loving Memory" など、Brian Enoの意匠を継ぐミニマルな反復構造と実験的手法に基づきながらも、ピツィン特有のエモーティヴなメロディの配置が印象的なアンビエント・サウンドが並びます。RuinsやWind Projectに比べると過小な評価が続いていたソロワークに光を当てるとともに、美術や舞台芸術と深い結びつきをもっていたイタリアン・アンビエント史の知られざる一面を解き明かしてくれるような素晴らしいコンパイル。各曲の詳細を含むライナーノーツが付属したヴァイナルとデジタル・フォーマットで12月13日にリリース予定。

Alessandro Pizzin’s production work resonates far and wide throughout the prolific music scene of 1980s Venice, Italy. His work as one half of the influential experimental combo RUINS gave way to his later productions as a founding member of the acclaimed ambient electronic group Wind Project, whose whose complete works were recently reissued on CD. Though Pizzin’s sonic fingerprint is present throughout many landmark recordings of the minimalist and experimental Venetian music scene, his groundbreaking works as a solo producer were only quietly released on his own EXPLORA label in the early 1990s - until now. Received: Selected Works 1981-1993, compiled by Incidental Music in collaboration with the artist, provides a valuable retrospective overview of Pizzin's solo material - from some of his earliest Fluxus-inspired work of the 1980s to the rich sonic palette of his early '90s CD material. The pieces featured on "Received" touch upon the atmospheric and polychromatic sounds of Pizzin's electronic work, often developed in conjunction with various occasions of art shows, grandiose chapel productions, and even a natural birth method training video - such as the ethereal Hiroshi Yoshimura-esque "Sunset on a hill" - a previously unreleased piece commissioned by a natural birth center in Venice. Other compositions, such as "In loving memory" and the previously unreleased "Francesco (live in studio)" exhibit the profound emotive range of Pizzin's compositions, at times evoking the eclectic environmental works of Brian Eno as well as Italian musical contemporaries Piero Milesi, Riccardo Sinigaglia, and Pepe Maina. Compiled by Incidental Music in collaboration with the artist, Received: Selected Works 1981-1993 includes extensive track-by-track liner notes, giving a comprehensive and critical overview of Alessandro Pizzin’s solo career. African music is as diverse as the topography of the land itself, and is said to be comprised of literally thousands of different styles of music. But many experts of regional music tend to separate African music into two distinct groups: North African Music, which is strongly Arabic and Islamic in nature, and Black African music, or that which is centralized in the Western, Central and Sub Saharan regions of Africa. So many iconic Western musicians have incorporated African instrumentation, ideas and ideals into their music.And ultimately there is an almost infinite variety of music forms, most of which, on some level, have been produced as a result of African music, or influenced by it. Whether Western instruments have evolved from ancient African models, or whether we have adopted our knowledge in terms of rhythms and cross rhythms, various scalic patterns, and the basic evolution of melody and harmony, Western music undoubtedly owes an immeasurable debt of gratitude to the African peoples for their wisdom, insight and creativity. During recent decades we've witnessed more and more of the inverse phenomenon, with African musicians absorbing styles and trends developed in Western countries, so that at last the circle has closed. Finally, then, we can embark on our "unexplained sounds" journey into Mother Africa.

Le Raccourci is a welcome introduction to the world of modern classical identity Sebastian Gandera. The impressionist landscapes of a sensitive soul self-reflecting, these miniature compositions alternate across a rudimentary set up of piano, field recorder, sampler and four track. Melancholic utterings hastily captured some 100km east of Paris. Classically trained by the same teacher as his parents, Gandera first began recording in the confines of his university dorm room, inspired by a C60 from friend and future collaborator Bernard Odot (A Gethsémani). Humbly existing without sparing a thought to music industry or career, Gandera’s personal effects surfaced via the European and US cassette networks from 1988 to 1994. Impressively accomplished for the DIY scene they orbited, these tapes were issued in scant quantities, rendering his pieces as private secrets shared and duplicated in small concentric circles. Aside from a sole, avowedly traumatic performance, the material was never shared in a live context. Selected by Sky Girl co-conspirer Julien Dechery, Le Raccourci culls 15 tracks from Gandera’s extensive cassette discography, discarded DAT recordings, and split CD with Lyon toy music project Klimperei. These sentiently charged compositions only hint at his larger catalogue, but act as a compelling cross section of the artist’s oeuvre. The identity is further detailed by archival images, Glen Goetze penned liner notes and original artwork from Perks and Mini’s Misha Hollenbach. While Gandera’s nostalgic melodies incidentally parallel with the piano key manoeuvres of Pascal Comelade, Robert Haigh and Dominique Lawalrée, Le Raccourci could only stem from the escapist desires of one Eric Morin.

青森市に住んでいた頃、1年半ほど本町にあったサーフショップで働いていたことがありました。音楽好きの店長やお店に集まるお客さん達は人のよい方ばかりで、大学を中退して路頭に迷っていた一頃の自分にとって大事な心の拠り所になっていたように思います。当時レコードを買いはじめたこともあって、給料を手にしては青森のユーロヴィジョンや八戸のリミックスといったお店によくお世話になりました。とりわけリミックスは、サーフショップ宛てにファックスで頻繁に入荷リストを送ってくれて、店主と電話で話しながらブラジリアン・ハウスやフューチャー・ジャズのレコードを（レーベルもアーティスト名も分からずとも）レコメンドされるがまま購入していました。クラブ・ミュージック全般ほとんど知識のない自分でしたが、どのレコードもすごく面白く熱心に聴き込んだことを憶えています。本作「The Returning Sun」も、そんな時期にリミックスを通じて知った一枚です。

ロスアプソンの代表・山辺圭司氏ディレクションによる〈是空〉の発展型レーベル〈時空〉より、第一弾タイトルとしてリリースされたコンピレーション作品。〈是空〉からは前年「Nowhere Rain」という「雨」をテーマにしたアンビエントなコンピレーションがリリースされていましたが、こちらは全編「夜」がテーマとなっています。以下の試聴動画は、Rainstick Orchestra名義で現在まで活動し、ソロ名義ではCalm主宰のMusic ConceptionからEPをリリースしてきたバク・ツノダによる水ダウンテンポの名曲 "I Want You"。その他のトラックもエキゾチックなトリップ感と日本的な侘び寂びの情趣を感じさせる素晴らしいジャズ/クロスオーバー揃いです。

Safe Trip is taking one final deep dive into the warm waters of Italian dream house with Welcome To Paradise Volume 3, the concluding chapter in the label’s journey through the previously overlooked world of one of dance music’s most vibrant and influential underground movements. While the influence of dream house continues to echo through the ages, the style was at its peak between 1989 and ’94, when producers across Italy delivered a high volume of loved-up, wavy and occasionally blissful productions that fused contemporary deep house tropes – most notably from Chicago, New York and New Jersey – with elements borrowed from ambient, jazz and Balearica. It’s this six-year period that provides the focus for Welcome To Paradise Volume 3, which draws together a spine-tingling mixture of sought-after classics, unheralded gems and little-known delights from the original Italian dream house movement. Thrillingly, Welcome to Paradise Volume 3 co-curator Young Marco has managed to source two previously unreleased tracks during the dream house period: the gently unfurling, sunrise-friendly bliss of Jacy’s “Resounding Seashell” and a special “Longer Edit” of Neurostate’s brilliant “Dance To The House”, a track that – somewhat surprisingly – has never previously been issued on vinyl before. Elsewhere, there are plenty of treats to set the pulse racing, from the must-have deep house brilliance of Leo Anibaldi’s “Universe” – a rare foray into dream house territory from the Italian techno pioneer – and the Afro-bleep-goes-dream-house trip of Golem’s “Sun City”, to the cowbell-driven, New Jersey garage-influenced warmth of Deep Choice’s “Children Trip” and Cosmic Galaxy’s “Walkin’ On The Moon”, a Detroit techno-influenced outing with a deliciously saucer-eyed, extended ambient intro. You’ll also struggle to find a more inspired house record than Green Baize’s “Tramp Heart”, which mixes familiar dream house elements with spacey electronics and tribal chants that recall Italy’s early ‘80s Afro-cosmic scene. It all adds up to another essential selection of rich, glassy-eyed dream house treats tailor-made for sound-tracking drawn-out Adriatic sunsets, Mediterranean sunrises and loved-up parties the world over. ▲

汎地中海音楽の伝統と現代音楽・ジャズを結び付ける新世代音響派を先導したローマのStile Liberoの精神を譲り受けるように、1994年にミラノ近郊都市モンツァで立ち上げられたレーベルDesert Rain。その第一弾タイトルとしてリリースされたコンピレーション・アルバム。参加した音楽家は、同レーベルから各々アルバムを発表したRaffaele Mallozzi（ラファエル・マロジ）、Tommaso Leddi（トマゾ・レッディ）、Pino Devita（ピノ・デヴィータ）、Maurizio Marsico（モリツォ・マルシオ）のほか、多種多様な民族楽器とエレクトロニクスを使い熟すマルチな才能と越境的感性を合わせ持つ全14名。全編素晴らしいですが、中でも特にシタールとギターを主調とする穏やかなサウンドで広大な海のイメージを描いたCostantino M. Albini（コスタンティーノ・M・アルビニ）、Stile Liberoの名作「Kaunis Maa」からさらに幽遠なサウンドへ踏み込んだRiccardo Giagni（リッカルド・ジアンニ）が秀逸です。リリースタイトルは全5枚。いずれも94年、ほぼ同時に発表されたものらしく、活動はごく短期間のうちに幕を閉じたとみられますが、全ての作品に配されたトリコローレ（イタリアの三色旗）と「Next Age Music」という理念にも、当時の国内の音楽シーンに清新な風を送ろうとする気概に溢れたレーベルだったことがうかがえます。もしその後も続いていたとしたら、同時代の潮流に呼応するエスノ・アンビエントの主要拠点になっていたのかもしれません。

ポーランド、東ドイツ、ハンガリー、チェコスロバキア、ブルガリア、エストニアといった、旧ソ型社会主義体制下にあった東ヨーロッパ諸国のシンセサイザー音楽にスポットを当てた、全6作にわたるコンピレーション・シリーズ「Looking East - Electronic East」のブルガリア編。レーベルは81年に独ディープホルツを拠点に設立された、Innovative Communicationと並ぶハイテック・ニューエイジの名門Erdenklang。当地の電子音楽分野を切り開いたSimo Lazarov（シモ・ラザロフ）を筆頭に、バルカン半島の複雑なリズムや旋律を織り交ぜたVladimir DJambasof（ウラディミール・ディアンバソフ）、フォークバラッドをフィーチャーしたLjubomir Velev（リュボミール・ヴェレウ）やSergey Djokanov（サーゲイ・ディオカノフ）など9名の作曲家による、プログレッシヴ・ロック、ニューエイジ、ジャズ、とりわけ民俗的要素と結びつくことで独自の進歩を遂げたブルガリアのシンセサイザー音楽を、作曲家ごとのバイオグラフィとともに紹介。選曲・監修はAnguel Kotev（アンゲル・コテフ）。

ブルガリアでは、ラジオスタジオの1つが充分な機器を備えた1977年になってはじめて、電子楽器を音楽に組み込むことが可能になりました。そのスタジオで最初に働き、同時に他の音楽家を育て上げたのはシモ・ラザロフでした。彼はその後の数年間、新しい可能性を用いた作品制作に強い興味をもつ音楽家たちから注目を集めました。間もなくして、他の音楽家は独立して活動できるように各々のスタジオを探しはじめました。これに関連して、他の音楽家のレコーディングを支えたFSBグループのスタジオについて言及する必要があります。この数年、ソフィアではディレンマとクラスのグループがスタジオを設立しました。電子楽器を駆使した実験主義の音楽家に加え、現在ブルガリアでは多くのポップ〜ロック界の音楽家が現代的な電子機器を使っており、MIDIはもはや外来語ではありません。このCDで紹介された音楽家が、まったく異なる経路から電子音楽に至ったことは注目に値します。先述のシモ・ラザロフと、サーゲイ・ディオカノフの場合、その原動力は当初からエレクトロニクスへの関心でした。他の音楽家、例えばアンゲル・コテフは、音楽学校で十分なクラシックのトレーニングを受けた後、エレクトロニクスとコンピュータの実験的な可能性に惹かれました。最後に、1989年の秋、ゴツェ・デルチェフの街の小さな作曲家グループが、ブルガリア初の国際電子音楽祭を成功させたことは特に強調したいです。- アンナ・マリア・トンコワ

国内のアーティストやオルタナティヴな音楽を重視した選曲で、1980年開局から音楽ファンの支持を集めたシドニーのFMラジオ局トリプルJ（2JJJ-FM）。AM時代（2JJ）から、局のレコードライブラリーと番組制作の管理を任されていた音楽ディレクターArnold Frolows（アーノルド・フロローズ）のホストにより、84年から毎週日曜日の夜、4時間にわたって放送されたアンビエント専門の音楽番組「Ambience」のコンピレーション・アルバム。リリース元はオーストラリア放送協会が運営するレーベルABC Records。A面は、EMIから日本デビューも果たしたシンセ奏者Andrew Thomas Wilson（アンドリュー・トーマス・ウィルソン）。民族楽器ディジリドゥとシンセ・サウンドを織り交ぜたアボリジナル・ニューエイジの先駆的グループGondwanaland（ゴンドワナランド）。ピアニストPeter Dasent率いるジャズ・アンサンブルThe Umbrellas（ザ・アンブレラズ）。B面は、オルタナティヴ・ロック方面からNot Drowning, Waving（ノット・ドラウニング・ウェイビング）と、The Churchのギタリスト／シンガーソングライターのSteve Kilbey（スティーヴ・キルベイ）。映画のサウンドトラックを手掛けたシンセ奏者John Elder（ジョン・エルダー）。Southern Crossingsのリーダーでマルチ奏者のMichael Atherton（マイケル・アザートン）。後のインプロ・ジャズトリオThe Necksのピアニストで、Room40からのリリースでも知られるピアニストChris Abrahams（クリス・アブラハムズ）。80年代中頃というと、日本ではニューエイジ・ミュージックがジャンルにとらわれない新しい器楽として注目を集め、Shi ZenやGreen & Water、Sound Forestといったレーベルやシリーズから日本古来の自然観を融合させた新しい環境音楽のスタイルが生まれていた時期。オーストラリアでも日本とおおむね同じ傾向にあって、それが革新的なラジオ番組を通じて、入眠のために、または無音のTVのBGMとして聴かれていた。そんな当時のアンビエント・ミュージックの概観や空気感を、夜のしじまの気配とともに今に伝えてくれる興味深い作品に感じられます。選曲・監修を手掛けたフロローズは長年番組制作を続けた後、メディアから「古過ぎる」と批判を受け、やがて若いディレクターにその座を譲り、トリプルJを退社。その後は、ABC Radioと共同で新しいデジタルラジオ局ABC DiGを開局し、現在も番組制作者として働いているそうです。

Ambience: surrounding, on all sides, relating to mood, atmosphere, environment or milieu. This definition can refer to almost any rhythmic, aural or visual circumstance you may like to choose or find yourself in and it was the unrestricted nature of this word that suggested itself as a title for the four hour 'ambient' programme which I present on the ABC's 2JJJ-FM on Sunday nights. The intention is to offer a body of sound and music which can be utilised as a foreground or background depending on the mood of the listener. Some people use the show to fall asleep to, others for watching TV with the sound off... each to their own. What matters is that the music never deliberately interferes. I hope this album provides you with these options. In late 1984 when Ambience was originally conceived Australian made music of this kind was quite scarce. The situation has changed due in part to the musicians on this compilation.

ワコールアートセンターが運営する南青山の複合文化施設スパイラルで、1993年9月から94年3月まで7ヶ月に渡って開催された「ART LIFE 21 - 人間になろう」。民族対立・環境問題・エイズなどの時事的問題を取り上げたこの展覧会への参加企画として、尾島由郎と池田亮司によるプロデュースで製作されたCDブック「サイレンス: 未来への静かなる提言」。池田氏がアメリカの脳科学者ジョン・C・リリーの著作の一節に共感したことに端を発し、「氾濫する情報を捨て去り、自身と向き合う静謐な意識から生まれた音」というテーマに賛同した12組のサウンド・アーティストが参加。CD収録曲はすべてこの企画のために新たに録音され、各曲のセルフノートとモノクロームの写真で構成された美しいブックレットとともに箱形パッケージに収められています。前半は電子音楽やエレクトロアコースティックが中心。後半は笙やピアノの独奏、室内楽のアンサンブルへ。各々で尺度や視点が異なる12通りのサイレンス。90年代にクラブ・カルチャーの中で興隆したアンビエント／チルアウトが、楽園的快楽や壮大な宇宙空間、深い内面世界、またはハイテクな近未来といったイメージを肥大させる一方で、その伏流となっていたポスト・インダストリアル／ノイズやミニマリズムから浮上した新しい音響主義が、過剰な付加イメージを排して「静寂・雑音」の原点へ戻そうという批判的姿勢をとっていたと考えるなら、本作や「Statics」はその象徴的な作品に感じられます。「サイレンス」とは単なる無音の状態ではなく、だれかの息づかいや遠くの足音を感じ取るための空白であり、コミュニケーションへの糸口と捉えるべき言葉なのかもしれません。

Peter Fonda（ピーター・フォンダ）監督・主演のアメリカン・ニューシネマ名作「The Hired Hands」。ギタリスト／作曲家Bruce Langhorne（ブルース・ラングホーン）によるオリジナル・サウンドトラックを、現行エクスペリメンタル〜ポストフォーク派の錚々たるアーティストが、原曲からイマジネーションを広げ、自由に解釈したトリビュート作品。コンパイラーはDylan Golden Aycock（ディラン・ゴールデン・エイコック）、Loren Connors（ローレン・コナーズ）、Suzanne Langille（スザンヌ・ランギル）。

We would like to pay homage to one of the greatest and most infamous guitarists alive, Bruce Langhorne. His music has influenced and touched a lot of lives over the years, either through his soundtrack work with Peter Fonda or his studio work in the 1960’s as the go to hired hand for musicians such as Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Richie Havens, Odetta... and many others. If his name is new to you I suggest browsing his wikipedia page to acquaint yourself with the volume of work he accomplished throughout the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Scissor Tail Editions was lucky enough to release Bruce’s score to Peter Fonda’s 1971 anti-western “The Hired Hand”on vinyl in 2012. The goal here was to ask artists to cover or reinterpret a song of their choice from the soundtrack. No rules on whether the music should be derivative of a certain song, if the soundtrack inspires a mood, then the artists use their intuition. Bruce has come on hard times in recent years, having suffered a stroke that prevents him from playing the guitar. He’s currently in hospice care awaiting his final curtain call. A large percentage of profit go to Bruce and his family. ▲

90-00年代にかけてデンマークのエレクトロニック・ミュージック・シーンを先導するコペンハーゲンのレーベルApril Recordsが、94年に初タイトルとしてリリースした「Boredom Is Deep And Mysterious」シリーズの第1弾。80年代からインディポップ・グループHow Do Iのドラマーとして活動したDub Tractor （ダブ・トラクター）ことAnders Remmerは、「Delay」の原型となるレイドバックしたエレクトロニック・ダブ。同じくHow Do Iでキーボードを担当していたPeter Fjeldbergによるソロ名義Double Muffled Dolphin（ダブル・マッフルド・ドルフィン）は、本作の中では異彩を放つシンセティックなディープ・アンビエント。「Objects For An Ideal Home」やAlva Notoの共作など、後のシーンの代表格として名を馳せるOpiate（オピエイト）ことThomas Knakは、ノイズやエフェクトとブレイクビーツを交ぜたフリーフォームで実験的なトラック。深海に響くソナーを思わせるエフェクトを使った#8は、アンビエント期らしいJohn C. Lillyがモチーフになっています。RemmerとのデュオRecycler 202、Knakを加えたトリオD.A.W.N.の一員でもある、Jesper Skaaningによるソロ名義Acustic（アコースティック）は、温かい水の中をフワフワと漂うような、「深遠で神秘的な退屈音楽」を体現する音数の少ないIDM。レイヴ以降の新しいエレクトロニック・ミュージックの潮流に呼応しつつも、ダンス・オリエンテッドでなければインテリジェンスでもない。ひたすら心地よい長閑さと無邪気さ、ナードな内向性を感じさせるFuture 3組による三者三様のベッドルーム・サウンド。人懐こいラップトップ・エレクトロニカのフォームを確立してゆく彼らの初期形態として興味深いコンピレーションです。

Luka Novaković（ルカ・ノヴァコヴィッチ）とVanja Todorović（ヴァンニャ・トドロヴィッチ）の2人によって昨年立ち上げられた、セルビア・ベオグラード拠点のレーベルDiscom。旧ユーゴスラビア圏の知られざる音楽の発掘・プロモーションを目的とするこのレーベルの第3弾タイトルとして、4組のシンセシスト／コンポーザー／グループに焦点をあてたエレクトロニック・スペース・ミュージックの編集盤が11月末にリリース。

「Yugoslavian Space Program」は、過去にユーゴスラビアでつくられたエレクトロニック・スペース・ミュージックをテーマとする初のコンピレーション。レコードレーベルDiscomは、1981年から2015年までの期間を対象に、ヨーロッパの一部であるこの地域から生まれた知られざるエレクトロニック・ミュージックのリサーチに長期的に力を注いできた。その結果、既にレコード・コレクターやDJによって高く評価されているユーゴスラビアのアーティスト達の協力を得て、このコンピレーションが実現した。アルバムは、スロヴェニアにおけるシンセのパイオニアMiha Kralj（ミハ・クラリ）による2つのトラックで幕を開ける。"Robot" は非常にオブスキュアな実験的エレクトロニカ。"Juh-Hu" は最近発見されたスペース・ミュージックの逸品。スロベニアのバンドOskarova Fobija（オスカロヴァ・フォビア）による2曲は、これまで未発表であったが驚くほど素晴らしい。"Izmedju Dve Kapi Znoja" は浮遊感のある80年代のシンセ・スペース・ソング。"Mayan Spacecraft" はAKAIの尺八のパッチを特色としたダンシーなインストゥルメンタル・ナンバー。Bサイドでは、「ベルリン・スクール」と呼ばれるドイツの電子音楽からの影響を紹介する。はじめは、伝説的グループBeograd（ベオグラド）。"Eenterstallar" はKlaus Schulzeに似たサイケデリックで瞑想的なナンバー。"Mozak Primopredajnik" はTangerine Dreamなど70年代のクラウトロックの巨匠を連想させる。そして、このコンピレーションのハイライトが、Zoran JevticとAndre Koyによって結成されたセルビアとクロアチアのグループDigitron（ディギトロン）。彼らが傾倒するKraftwerkに近いスタイルだが、独自の優れたシンセ・サウンドを作り上げている。“Digital Minds” は未来社会のパーフェクトなディストピア・ビジョン。同様に衝撃的な “Kosmos” では、多くのKraftwerkの曲と類似する、ソヴィエトの技術や文化から受けたインスピレーションが描かれている。ここでフィーチャーされた音源の大きな特徴は、商用サンプルやドラムループを全面的に使用せず、全てのサウンドとパッチが合成され、手動でプログラムされたという事実にある。加えて、選曲からサウンドデザイン、かつての時代のメッセージとシンボルを踏まえたアートワークまで一環したコンセプトのもと、コンピレーションは慎重に考案された。レコードのカバーは、ユーゴスラビアの科学者で宇宙航行学のパイオニアによるスケッチ。時代に先駆けたアイデアであり、この宇宙船と天体は共産主義時代の彫刻・モニュメント・建造物として見ることができる。ユーゴスラビアのエレクトロニック・スペース・ミュージックをより広い文脈で提示することを目的としているが、ユーゴスラビアで生まれ育った彼ら世代の理知と大志は、このリリースでは決して捕えらることができないほどさらに大きな産物のもたらした。この国は既に存在せず、再びこの種の音楽を創造することは不可能であるという事実は、今日これらレコードをさらに重要なものにしている。

レーベル表記はなく、現時点ではほとんど素性が知れない作家ばかり。しかしその不明瞭な装いも、Basic ChannelやWilliam Basinskiを思わせる、どこか煙霧の国を彷徨うような漂泊感を醸し出すローファイなサウンドと相まって、今年のベスト・テープ候補に挙げられるほど内容の充溢したアンビエント・コンピレーション。おそらく中心人物は、Special Guest DJ名義でも活動しているシカゴのプロデューサーDJ Paradise。PendantはHuerco S.の変名という風聞も。今後のレーベル展開も期待されます。
