米オレゴン州ポートランドにレコードショップを構える傍ら、2018年よりレコードレーベルを運営しているMusique Plastique。Visible Cloaksのセルフタイトル作の再発を皮切りに、同郷出身のシンセサイザー奏者Attilio、シカゴのポストパンク・バンドGuerilla Welfare、ナイジェリア出身の宅録ローファイシンガーPedro、ベルギーの前衛劇伴作家John Gilbert Colman、さらにはメルボルンで映像のための音楽を手がけた電子音楽家Sam Malletまで、レアグルーヴ的視点で発掘した良質なミニマル〜コンテンポラリー・ミュージックの復刻リリースを重ね、再発レーベルが乱立する現行シーンの中でも、彼らとゆかりの深いSéance Centreともに異彩を放つ存在になっています。今年の1月4日にサウンドクラウドで公開された「Stages: Music From Dance And Theater 1979-1989」は、レーベルの共同設立者の1人であるLuke Buser（ルーク・ブザー）が過去2年にわたり夢中になっていたというダンスとシアター・プロダクションのための音楽に関する研究成果をまとめたもの。Ryuichi SakamotoやBenjamin Lewといった大御所からほとんど無名に近い作家まで、29組の音楽家達が身体の動き／リズムに呼応して制作した様々なフォームのミニマル・ミュージックが2時間にわたりミックスされています。トラックリスティングはトラック説明欄をご覧ください。
I spent the last couple of years obsessing over music from dance and theater productions. The more I researched and listened, the more I began to hear a sort of commonality that all these records and cassettes shared; a sound of movement. Even coming from all parts of the globe and representing several different genres, there is a strong feeling of human movement. This mix represents a period of time spanning between 1979 and 1989.
