カナダ・トロントのガラス楽器即興アンサンブルThe Glass Orchestra（グラス・オーケストラ）の82年作。タイトル「ヴェリヨン」はガラス楽器の意。#1は1981年12月にFMラジオ局WQXRのクラシック専門プログラムのライブ放送されたスタジオセッション、#2-6は最初期のサウンドアート展「サウンディングス」会期中にニューバーガー美術館で行われたコンサート/ワークショップ、最後の#7は82年3月にトロントで行われたコンサート。当時カセットのみでリリースされた作品でしたが、グループのリーダー格である作曲家Miguel Frasconi（ミゲル・フラスコーニ）のBandcampを通じて、現在リマスター版が配信されています。

All track recorded live. Tracks 1-6 recorded December, 1981, in the NYC area. Track 1, in the WQXR studios, NYC, during a live broadcast hosted by Bob Sherman. プラハを拠点に20年以上活動する即興集団Orloj Snivcůの一員、Martin Janíček（マーティン・ヤニーチェク）。U字に曲がったスティール・チェロ、木版上にやかんを弦で縛り付けたようなダルシマー、様々な長さの木板をぶら下げた巨大バラフォン、（鍼治療のように）木板に金属棒を突きさしたカリンバなど、風変わりな噪音発生装置を多数製作。本作「Katalog」は、それら自作楽器をソロ、またはアンサンブルで演奏し、文字通り音のカタログとして収めたソロ作品。ジャケットに写る楽器は#4の「Singing Plywood」（歌う合板）。

Martin Janicek, born 1961 in Prague. 1979, completed his training as a metal caster, since 1990, student of the Academy of FIne Arts in Prague. Has exhibited since 1981 - sculptures, objects. Since 1992, sound and video performances, projections, video. Lives and works in Prague. Martin Janicek has been involved since the 1980's in the Czech experimental art scene - focusing on sculptural sounding objects, improvisation and sound installations.

PocketnifeことSkooby Laposkyが主宰するWilde Calm Records。Nirosta SteelのリーダーStaven Hallの未発表音源に続くレーベル第5弾は、ポストパンク期のNY前衛シーンより活動したミニマル作曲家Elodie Lauten（エロディ・ローテン）。今年7月に他界したLautenの最後のリリース作品となった「Transform」から5曲をセレクト/リマスターした音源に加え、Wilde Calmによるリミックスを追加収録。

Wilde Calm Records is honored to present new work from the late Elodie Lauten, New York City composer and recipient of the 2014 Robert Rauschenberg Award. Lauten had been exploring microtonality and alternative temperament since working on a Fairlight CMI synthesizer in the early 1980s and up until her untimely death, had been continuing these explorations with the Klio, her custom modular Reaktor software synthesizer. Many Wilde Calm fans will be familiar with Lauten’s music from her numerous collaborations with fellow downtown luminary Arthur Russell. Lauten and Russell met through their mutual poet friend Allen Ginsberg and shared a similar sensibility of musical openness and possibility as evident in their spiritual club classic “In the Light of the Miracle” and Russell’s appearance on Lauten’s seminal post- minimalist masterwork The Death of Don Juan. Five remastered selections from her most recent album Transform feature on the EP in addition to a Wilde Calm remix. 1990年、Jan P. Muchowを中心にプラハで結成されたロック・グループThe Ecstasy Of Saint Theresa（エクスタシー・オブ・セイントテレサ）。グループ名はイタリアの彫刻家の作品から。UKイーサリアル/シューゲイズから影響を受けた轟音系バンド・サウンドからエレクトロ二クス主体に作風が変わり、ほとんど別のグループといってもいいテクノ/チルアウトへと深化したセカンド・アルバム。前作でつんのめり気味に走っていたドラムは打ち込みに、フィードバック・ギターはより幽かなエフェクトに、フィメール・ヴォーカルは天上から舞い降りるようなアンビエント・ヴォイスに（オリジナル・メンバーのIrena Libovickáに加え、HereのヴォーカルMíša Klímkováが客演）。スぺーシーなトビ音や、鳥の鳴き声/雨や風といった環境音がイメージさせる空想上のバイオスフィア。シューゲイズ×エレクトロニックの組み合わせではSeefeel「Quique」に比い、また別の融合点を生み出しています。エンジニア/ミックスは4AD/Creation周辺の名作を数多くの手掛けたGuy Fixsen。

英国とアイルランドの全書誌を編纂し、印刷革命以前の写本や稀覯本など世界中の3000年分に渉る資料を収蔵・管理する大英図書館（British Library）。録音資料部門では音楽や戯曲、文学といった芸術のみならず、言語/地方の方言アクセント、オーラル・ヒストリー（口述記録）、音響/録音史、サウンドスケープ/サウンドマップなどを膨大にコレクション。CDとして広く販売されているほか、2012年より約50,000点の音声資料がウェブサイト「British Library Sounds」で公開。カテゴリー「Environment & Nature - Early Wildlife Recordings」では、2010年にCONCRETEによるアーカイヴCD「Archival Sound Series」がリリースされた野性生物録音の開拓者 Ludwig Koch（ルートヴィヒ・コッホ）、ドイツ人鳥類学者 Oskar Heinroth（オスカル・ハインロート）、デンマーク人鳥類学者 Carl Weismann（カール・ワイスマン）、米コーネル大学鳥類学研究所、そして日本初の鳥の鳴き声レコード（1954-55年日本野鳥の会収録野鳥の聲）を録音した野鳥研究家・蒲谷鶴彦と星野嘉助のフィールド・レコーディング音源を聴くことができます。

アトモスフェリックな電子アンビエント/ドローン、メディテイティヴなアメリカン・プリミティヴ/ラーガ、Hans Reichelを思わせる特殊奏法まで多彩な引出しをもつニューヨーク在住のギタリストAlexander Turnquist（アレクサンダー・ターンクイスト）が、よりモダン・クラシカルな作風へアプローチした2014年最新作。12弦ギターの煌めくトレモロ/アルペジオの反復、ピアノやバイヴ、チェロ、スティールパンのゆったりとした旋律が、車窓から見える近景・遠景のように重なり、シネマチックなストーリーを推移させてゆく。全体の流れの中でもっとも音数が少なく、逆像的にアクセントになっている#5 'Flying Fantasy' が素晴らしいです。同じ12弦ギタリストとして引き合いに出されるJames Blackshawをはじめ、Michael Nyman〜Wim Mertensといった叙情派ミニマル、ポストクラシカル勢とも似た優美な香気を放つアコースティック・ミニマルの秀作。

Turnquist's latest full-length Flying Fantasy confirms the idea that out of great hardship can come great art. As he wrote the material for the new album it became clear that his sensitivity had sharpened, his empathy magnified, and his sense of purpose blossomed. The unfortunate circumstances he endured ostensibly forced his metamorphosis from a remarkable guitar player to a truly great composer. Much like the butterflies that adorn the album cover, he seems to have changed form and taken flight.
The album opens with the sparse harmonics of "House of Insomniacs", which are soon joined by lush swells of vibes, cello, and even wordless vocals. On the tracks that follow, Turnquist continues to make use of this dynamic sonic pallet, even adding organ, piano, marimba, steel drums, violin, and french horn to the mix. From "Red Carousel", which was inspired by Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes, to the somber lilt of the love song "Wildflower", to the truly arresting title track "Flying Fantasy" which uses only 4 open strummed guitars and loops of damaged tape and wire recorders, every note of Flying Fantasy vibrates with life as Turnquist ushers us though his intoxicatingly colorful worlds of sound. - Western Vinyl

リオデジャネイロ出身のギター奏者Carioca（カリオカ）ことRonaldo L. Freitas。ロックバンドでの活動後、様々な音楽を吸収し、より前衛的な音楽性へ。「7 Dias 7 Instrumentos Música」は、単独名義ではおそらく2作目となる作品で、ブラジル音楽の奇才Egberto Gismonti主宰のレーベルCarmoの8番目としてリリース。ノルデスチ地方のチターラ、ビオラン（ギター）やバンドリンなど、曲により仕様/組み合わせの異なる7通りのインストゥルメントを扱い、小刻みなトレモロ、叩き付けるようなパーカッシブな奏法まで、緩急巧みに振分けた自由自在なスタイルで、夜明けから目覚め、太陽の道へ至る7日間を表現。音の原野を駆け回り野性の源を探るような、土着と洗練が雑ざりあう演奏は、北米ニュー・アコースティック派作品と対比して南米固有のニューエイジと喩えたくなるほど、スピリチュアルな鋭気に満ちています。1993年にはECM/Carmoから新録音を2曲追加した全10曲でCD化。本作以降はダンスや映画のための作曲/アレンジを手掛けるほか、世界各国でワークショップをされているそうです。

The guitar player Ronaldo Leite de Freitas - or simply called Carioca - was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1955. He started very early with his musical education. From experiences in rock bands he passed on to study different styles of music and to master the knowledge of his instruments. In 1979/80 he finished his first album "Misterios da Amazonia". Afterthe 80ies he has been working as a music teacher, as an arranger of more than thirty independent LPs, as a composer for theatre, dance and movie. Due to constant touring in Europe, he also started to live in Switzerland. Together with Ted Barlocher he founded the "Escola de Samba do Apito". Arranging, composing, producing soundtracks, recordings for studios and television soon characterized his work which started to be known in Europe, Australia, Africa, Asia as well as in South and Central America. - discogs (excerpt)
